5 on 5 June: Undiscovered, Unsigned, Unbelievable

I love discovering new music. I used to trawl the “bargain” bins at Circuit City where all the hidden gems would be just glistening beneath a sea of Elvis and Frank. Nowadays I have social media to trawl through. Sometimes you cast the net and come up with a treasure trove.

Whinnie Williams is in that net. Bringing a fresh view of retro in her “Popped Out for a Pint of Milk” sessions, she is heading places.

Komla are another undiscovered wonder. I wonder often why they’re still unsigned.

With an EP now available on iTunes (and mixed by Paul Reeve), you can find more Komla here and here.

As far as unbelievable goes, this summer sees the return of Nine Inch Nails, with an album release pegged for September.

Trent Reznor has also compiled the definitive singles list from 1989 til now. It is a tour primer.

And if NIN’s return wasn’t enough, there’s also Beck’s solo summer acoustic tour and a new album on the horizon.

It’s going to be a good summer.
